Finally walking on water!
Just in time, Christo was able to open his artwork "The Floating Piers" on the Lago d’Iseo in Northern Italy for the public on Saturday, June 18, 2016. After a year of intensive preparation, project planning and the production of the approx. 3.5 km long footbridge area over the lake, which was carried out by the team of experts, the first visitors were to be able to step on the pontoon areas covered with fabric. The geo team with 15 employees was not only responsible for all work related to the bright orange fabric, but it was also in action with "needle and thread” during the exhibition. After months of working with the fabric, the central element of the art object, the geo specialists implemented the installation at and on the lake together with Christo in a few days. Thanks to the excellently coordinated and implemented project, Christo was once again able to celebrate a spectacular success with the floating piers and write modern art history.
